Alzheimer's Support's third annual Walk to Remember was the largest yet with more than 300 people walking 12 miles along the Kennet and Avon Canal. It was also the most challenging thanks to some of the highest temperatures of the year.

The day started with bacon butties and a quick warm-up led by Pash Ashley of Movement for the Mind. Then at 9.30am walkers set off, everyone walking at their own pace. Refreshments were available en route from our own canal barge moored at Semington, then on to the lunch stop in the garden of the Barge Inn at Seend Cleeve.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, and all those who sponsored them or supported us in other ways. To Nutricia which supplied bottles of water to all participants at the start - and to the Barge Inn at Seend Cleeve. As well as letting us picnic in their canalside garden, they gave a free soft drink from the bar to anyone wearing a Walk to Remember T-shirt.

We are hoping to match last year's fundraising total of £15,000. It's not too late to sponsor our walkers who persevered despite the heat. Some of them have set up fundraising pages and all will be grateful for any additional support.
