Staff, volunteers and members at Alzheimer’s Support’s four day clubs in Wiltshire are delighted to learn that they have been shortlisted for a national award.

The charity’s day care service is a finalist in the Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards, which recognise excellence and innovation in the not-for-profit social care sector.

The four clubs - Mill Street Club in Trowbridge, Sidmouth Street in Devizes, Old Silk Works in Warminster and Scots Lane in Salisbury  - are finalists in the Dementia Care category.

Alzheimer’s Support CEO Sarah Marriott said: “We are thrilled to be finalists in this prestigious award and to have the work of our day club teams recognised nationally. It is very exciting for everyone connected with the clubs and we are looking forward to the final round of judging later this month and of course to the award ceremony itself in March.”

Professor Vic Rayner OBE, Chief Executive of the National Care Forum which was involved in setting up the event ten years ago, said the awards had continued to showcase some of the very best work in social care.

She said: “In a time when everything we talk about seems to be predicated by terms like ‘challenging’, ‘difficult’ and ‘worst ever’, it is vital to open our eyes and ears to hear about the art of the possible.”

The finalists will be announced at the much-anticipated Awards Ceremony on Friday 15th March 2024 at The Grand Hotel in Birmingham.
