4th December 2023

We welcomed three new trustees at our Annual General Meeting today.

Bill Harper, Steve Besent and Jane Palmer bring a wealth of experience and skill to the Board.

Bill has an eclectic background including experience as a social worker and chartered surveyor in America.  He cared for his father who lived with dementia and now volunteers at the Scots Lane Club in Salisbury, where he makes an excellent bingo caller and works tirelessly on perfecting his Dick Van Dyke-inspired British accent.

Steve is already a good friend of Alzheimer's Support as the father of Dementia Adviser Claire. He has had a 40-year career in business and IT change management and since retiring has volunteered with Citizens Advice Wiltshire and The Samaritans. He also helps out at Bradford on Avon's two memory cafes.

Our third newcomer is an old friend! Jane, a retired mental health nurse, was a trustee for several years before stepping down in 2015. In recent years we have supported her sister and she has kindly decided to offer her services to the board again.

Alzheimer's Support CEO Sarah Marriott said: "We are so pleased to welcome Bill, Jane and Steve to the Board. They all bring different skills and experiences but share a deep sense of commitment and enthusiasm for the work of our charity."
