People living with dementia in Chippenham will continue to enjoy singing, exercise and social get-togethers thanks to the town’s Borough Lands charity.

Wiltshire charity Alzheimer’s Support has received £7,333 from Chippenham Borough Lands to support its three community groups in the town. The donation will go towards the running costs of the town’s Memory Café, Music for the Mind singing group and Movement for the Mind exercise group.

Chief Executive Babs Harris said: “We were delighted to receive this award. We know how much our community groups are valued by people living with dementia and their families and it is wonderful to have this support from Chippenham Borough Lands.”

Christine Jenkins Welfare Officer at Chippenham Borough Lands spent a morning meeting members, volunteers and staff at Movement for the Mind a couple of months ago and returned to hand over the cheque and celebrate at last week’s memory café.

She said: "We are delighted to support Alzheimer’s Support application for funding to run the three groups in the town. Trustees are pleased that the funds we have allocated will go specifically towards helping people living with dementia and their families in the Chippenham Parish. We wish Alzheimer’s Support continued success as they continue to provide a vital community service for local residents.”
