Alzheimer’s Support is asking everyone to pull on their jeans this month in its first Denim4Dementia fundraising event.

Schools, businesses, and community groups across Wiltshire are lining up to stage denim-themed mufti days during October.

apetito employees kicked off the fundraiser with a dress-down day at their head office in Canal Road, Trowbridge – with dozens taking part from across the organisation.

Chris Aston, apetito Head of Marketing said, “We are always delighted to help this fantastic cause whenever and however we can. This campaign idea really sparked an interest with everyone at Team apetito, as any fundraising idea which involves dressing up usually does! It was a great turn out and we are proud to continue to support the brilliant work being done by Alzheimer’s Support in our local area.”

Alzheimer’s Support fundraiser Rachel Fear, who dreamed up the month-long campaign, said: “The launch at apetito was fantastic and it was great to see such enthusiasm. They are leading the way but we are starting to have interest from others. Wiltshire Heights Care Home in Bradford on Avon is hosting a fashion show and a couple are doing a denim three-legged sponsored walk - so there are lots of extra ways to get involved.”

Alzheimer’s Support supports more than 1,000 people each month in Wiltshire, with day clubs, a network of singing, movement and art groups, and highly personalised one-to-one care which was last year named the best dementia team at the national Dementia Care Awards. It needs to raise £300,000 a year to keep services running.
