Jackie, you have no idea how much Alzheimer's Support are making a difference to us as a family. Since Mandy became Mum's support worker we have gone from struggling and just about existing, to enjoying spending time and doing special things together. Instead of worrying about what the future holds, we are enjoying life and relaxing.

We are proud of the way we support 2,500 people affected by dementia here in Wiltshire. We know how much our services mean to people - they tell us every day the difference our practical, life-affirming approach makes to their everyday lives.

During the pandemic we have been on the frontline of social care, supporting people among the worst affected by loneliness and isolation of lockdown. Our dementia advisers kept working throughout the year, we never stopped visiting the most vulnerable, and we moved heaven and earth to reopen day clubs in the summer of 2020 and community groups in the autumn.

Going back to the day club for the first time today was so emotional for us. From gratitude and relief. Words cannot convey how much the club means.

Alzheimer's Support needs to raise £822 every day of the year to bring our award-wining services to people living with dementia and family carers. That's the shortfall between what we spend on the support we provide, and what we receive from council and health service contracts and the subsidised fees that we charge for some of our services.

This year our income has been hard hit - and your support has never been more needed.

How your donation will help

  • £2 could fund well-deserved treats for our day club therapy whippets Higby and Dottie

  • £10 could pay for tea and biscuits at a Memory cafe or Music for the Mind session

  • £25 could fund one of our amazing support workers for an hour

  • £60 could pay a day's rent at one of our day clubs

  • £100 could subsidise a member at one of our day clubs for a month

We spend 96p in every £1 on front-line services here in Wiltshire, so you know your donation will be well spent on the people that need it most. Please help to make a difference for people living with dementia this Christmas.

I wish I could have filmed Mum's reaction to the online music. She lit up like a beacon, animated, interacting, laughing and talking me through it. it just took her off to a place where she is obviously so incredibly comfortable. Thank you so much.
