An understanding doctor's surgery is crucial to support people to live well with dementia in their community.

There are so many small things surgeries can do, such as offer double appointments, arrange afternoon appointments and phone people to remind them.

There are big things too, like ensuring doctors take dementia seriously, that they communicate diagnoses and other information fully and clearly, work with families and ensure they refer everyone on to their Dementia Adviser.

If you are getting it right for people with dementia, you will be getting it right for so many of your more vulnerable patient groups.

Many GP surgeries in Wiltshire have held Dementia Friends information sessions for everyone who works in the surgery, and some have offered these to patient groups too. Get in touch to arrange a free session for your surgery.
