Setting up a Dementia Action Alliance is a great way for a community to work together to become more dementia friendly. An alliance is led by a steering group which will draw up a plan of the actions needed and monitor progress.

The steering group should have a mix of members, including people directly affected by dementia and representatives from local businesses as well as local councils, voluntary groups, churches, and many more. Each alliance is different but the steering group normally meets quarterly and there may be smaller sub-groups or working parties.

But it's not all about meetings! If you have an experience to share or an idea for making things better in your community, the alliance will want to hear it.

Whether you are someone directly affected by dementia, a business, voluntary organisation, school or individual volunteer, your local alliance will be delighted to hear from you.
