We run free training online courses for family and friends who are caring for someone with dementia at home. As well as being an invaluable insight into the condition and the changes it may bring, it is a good way to connect with others in similar circumstances.

Introductory course

Our introductory, six-week online courses runs several times a year and are aimed at new carers or those who have not yet had the opportunity to take part.  They are partly funded by Wiltshire Council.

The six weekly sessions are led by experts in their field, however the delivery is informal. Topics include:

  • What is Dementia
  • Managing Problems at Home
  • Legal and Financial Aspects of Caring
  • Taking Care of Yourself
  • Safer Moving and Assisting
  • Care at Home and Evaluating Care Homes

Our next online course starts at the beginning of September.

The courses are facilitated by our community services coordinator Kate Sharpe. Please email Kate or call her on 01380 739055 to find out more or if you would prefer to book your place by phone.

Later Stages course

We also offer an occasional five-week Later Stages course for those caring for someone in the more advanced stages of dementia. It looks at issues which may be more relevant then, including looking at care options and advanced care planning.
Dates for the next Later Stages course coming soon.
