Our services For carers and family Training courses for family carers We run online and in-person training courses for family and friends who are caring for someone with dementia who lives at home in Wiltshire. As well as being an invaluable insight into the condition and the changes it may bring, it is a good way to connect with others in similar circumstances. Introductory course Our introductory, six-week courses runs several times a year and are aimed at new carers or those who have not yet had the opportunity to take part. The seven weekly sessions are led by experts in their field and the delivery is informal. Topics include: What is dementia? Ideas for managing problems at home Safer moving and assisting Staying healthy – how carers can take care of themselves Care at home and evaluating care homes Financial & legal aspects of caring End of life planning Join our next carer training course Our next online course starts in the autumn and will be held on six consecutive Thursday mornings from 5th September. This autumn course is now fully booked. To express an interest in our next course please call Jonathan Aldridge-Mansfield on 01380 739005 or email Jon. I expected to learn about the illness and the impact it can have on individuals and their families. The course surpassed expectations because of the amount of practical advice and information shared. It was particularly helpful and reassuring to speak with others, and to hear what they have to say from their own experiences. Book your place Later Stages course We also offer an occasional five-week Later Stages course for those caring for someone in the more advanced stages of dementia. It looks at issues which may be more relevant then, including looking at care options and advanced care planning. Dates for the next Later Stages course are coming soon. Manage Cookie Preferences
