Sidmouth Street day club in Devizes has celebrated its tenth birthday with a cake and plenty of shared memories.

The club, run by Alzheimer’s Support, meets four days a week to offer a stimulating and enjoyable day out for people living with dementia. Its pioneering model of highly personalised activities, community involvement and animal therapy has earned national recognition and local awards - and provided the blueprint the charity’s other clubs in Wiltshire.

Head of Day Care Services Grant Newton said: “We are extremely proud of what we do at Sidmouth Street and of the fantastic staff, volunteers and members who make the club such a special place. Everyone involved in Sidmouth Street contributes to creating a positive and relaxed club environment.”

Valerie Wiltshire, whose mother Anna attended the club for several years, said: “The club is an amazing place full of amazing people. I can’t praise your support and understanding enough.”
