Rebecca volunteer's at her local Alzheimer's Support music group and know's first hand the positive impact the charity has in the community.
Before lockdown restrictions put an immediate stop to the group's activities, she had a conversation with some of the individuals attending the weekly music sessions.
They shared with her how their dementia effects them individually. One lady told Rebecca how she is able to remember peoples faces but not names, another how it negatively effects her word finding ability and another how her concentration is limited (particularly in busy environments).
The side effects of dementia impact people's daily lives, their relationships and their ability to participate in society. Rebecca believe's that Alzheimer's Support offer an invaluable service for both individuals with dementia and for family and carer's affected by dementia.
They provide ongoing practical support and dementia friendly environments which allow people the opportunity not only to exist but to live well with dementia.
During her time as a volunteer Rebecca came to realise that Alzheimer's Support walk alongside people on their dementia journey so that they are not alone.
To help them continue to do so please donate and 'walk alongside Rebecca' by joining her in a 30-minute online fitness class given by her very generous friend and personal trainer Kelly K on Saturday 16th at 11.30am. Rebecca Matthews
