Vanessa Long A Walk to Remember is Alzheimer's Support's annual fundraiser for people living with dementia and their family carers.
This year the walk is being held as a virtual event on Saturday 16th May. The aim is to help people stay connected, to help keep fit at home - and to raise vitals funds to keep the charity afloat.
I work for the charity and know what an amazing job we do - and are still doing throughout this crisis - for the people we support.

There is so much we do not know about Coronavirus, but one thing we do know is that people living with dementia still need our support, now and in the future.

Our charity is being hard hit by the current crisis. Income is reduced by £5,000 every week that services are closed. Even with Government help with some wages bills, we have to pay rent for day club premises and other fixed costs.

We are keeping in close touch with all the families we support with regular phone calls and advice, with essential shopping and collecting medication. We are also finding innovative ways to bring our singing, movement and art groups into people's homes remotely so that they can continue to connect and keep active.

Your donation will help us do this every day that we cannot be together - and to ensure that our vital services can continue into the future.

Just £18 will pay for an hour-long phone call from a skilled dementia specialist who knows the family well - a call that can make all the difference to people coping alone at home at a frightening and difficult time.

Please make a difference and support us today. Vanessa Long
