I first heard about Alzheimer’s Support through playing the banjo when the amateur band that I play in got the chance to perform at the Day Club in Trowbridge. As my Dad had suffered very severely for several years with vascular dementia I wanted to support this local charity in the amazing work work that they do. Playing at the day club was such good fun and it was so rewarding to see the members being stimulated and enjoying themselves. Four years ago, when the new day club opened at the Old Silk Works in Warminster, I volunteered along with my dog Floss. In volunteering I gained a better understanding of dementia and appreciation of what a valuable service Alzheimer's Support provides in the community.

I now work for Alzheimer's Support as the Community Services Coordinator for West Wiltshire where I am involved in coordinating a range of community services for people with dementia and their family carers. Throughout Wiltshire Community Services include groups such as Music for the Mind, Movement for the Mind, Art Groups, Muddy Boots Groups, Memory Cafes and Carers Groups. Without continuous fundraising these groups cannot run. I would like to see these services expand to reach more and more people in need of our support and am committed to doing what I can promote and raise funds for the organisation.

I am taking on the challenging Walk to Remember on June 11th to raise funds to keep this amazing charity going.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and in anticipation of your support.
