Bradford on Avon's Dementia Action Alliance has relaunched a number of activities for people living with dementia and carers in the town.

Since regrouping after the pandemic the group has started its own website, published a guide to local services and support, and is now restarting activities. 

These include: 

Forget Me Not Cafes

• Dog and Fox pub on the first Thursday of the month from 3pm to 4.30pm.
• Holy Trinity Church on the third Thursday of the month from 11am to 12.30pm

The cafes often feature entertainment or a theme and are a great way to meet other people, and to find informal advice and support. Dementia Adviser Claire Mitchell or another member of Alzheimer's Support staff is always on hand. 

Walking for the Mind

• Dementia-friendly walk run by Get Wiltshire Walking, first Monday of each month. Meet at the Library at 2pm.

Matinee Film Club

• Relaxed film showing at St Margaret's Hall, 2pm on the second Wednesday of the month from September.

Alzheimer's Support was a founder member of the alliance which also includes carers of people living with dementia and representatives from Bradford Town Council, Bradford Medical Centre, Holy Trinity Church, Wiltshire Council, Wiltshire Heights care home and other local businesses and individuals.

Dementia Adviser Claire Mitchell, who represents Alzheimer's Support on the alliance, said: 'It is great to see such committed people coming together to make life a bit easier for people living with dementia and their carers in Bradford on Avon.

'The cafes and other activities were greatly missed during the pandemic and it is lovely to see people coming back together and connecting again.'
