People often ask what they can do to help us in our work to support people with dementia. We put the question to our staff and volunteers and challenged them to come up with 30 ideas to mark our 30th anniversary.

In no particular order, this is what they said....

  • Volunteer in one of our community groups or day clubs

  • Help with a store collection

  • Bake a cake

  • Become a community ambassador and help spread the word in your area

  • Share your experiences of living with dementia or caring – it can be so helpful for others to know they are not alone

  • Become a Dementia Friend

  • Arrange a Dementia Friends session for your friends, social group or workmates

  • Fundraise in your office or workplace

  • Take part in Denim4Dementia this October – it’s a great way for schools and businesses to get involved

  • Put up a poster on your local village noticeboard so that people know what’s available in their area – we have more than 40 community groups across Wiltshire so there will be one near you!

  • Join us as an admin or media volunteer

  • Jump out of a plane! We’re looking for 30 people to do a sponsored skydive for us this September

  • Donate a raffle prize or item we can sell or auction

  • Put on a social event and donate the proceeds

  • Run a half marathon, climb a mountain or take on another sponsored challenge, even get sponsored to complete a jigsaw in 30 days!

  • Encourage your company to make us their Charity of the Year

  • Encourage a group or club you are a member of to choose us as their Charity of the Year

  • Nominate us in your local supermarket to receive funds

  • Volunteer as a driver to give people a lift to a memory café or singing group

  • Come into one of our day clubs as a volunteer cook

  • See if your child’s school would like to get involved. We run dementia awareness workshops and love it when young people spend time in our day clubs
  • Give feedback on our services if you use them. We like to know what you think of what we do and how we can improve

  • Pass on any tips for living as well as you can with dementia. If it has helped you if may help others too

  • Sign up to Give As You Live when you shop online. The retailers will make a donation every time you buy – at no cost to you

  • Or sign up to Amazon Smile which works in the same way but just for Amazon purchases.

  • Share our social media posts and help spread the word about our work

As you can see there are dozens of ways you can support us as we support people affected by dementia in Wiltshire. Whatever you do THANK YOU so much. You will be helping us make all the difference.
