Alzheimer’s Support is delighted to have established several new corporate relationships with Wiltshire businesses in 2022.

The Manor Hotel in Castle Combe, Daykin Estates, West Wilts Golf Course and Warminster School have all chosen to the support the charity, in addition to existing partnerships including with apetito, Nationwide and Danone.

It has also been nominated charity of the year by Warminster Women’s Institute and Bradford on Avon Choral Society, pictured above.

The organisations were impressed by the service Alzheimer’s Support provides at the heart of its community in Wiltshire and were keen to be involved in promoting a deeper understanding of dementia. The partnerships also offer opportunities for volunteering, team building activities and fundraising.

Since becoming a corporate partner, staff from Westbury-based Daykin Estates have helped prepare Christmas dinners at the Mill Street and Old Silk Works day clubs, arranged a fun day and sponsored walk and signed up for the Skydive for Dementia.  The organisation also sponsors Memento, Alzheimer’s Support’s newsletter.

Daykin Estate founder Jordan Daykin said: “Alzheimer’s Support is part of the community and rather than just donating money I wanted to get involved. My grandfather brought me up and I watched what dementia did to him and my grandmother who was his carer. I’ve seen the benefit of what Alzheimer’s Support does and know it would have benefitted him.”

Benefits of supporting a grass roots dementia charity

Rachel Fear, Alzheimer’s Support fundraiser said: “We are delighted that so many local organisations see the benefit of supporting our charity.

“Organisations choose to partner with us for many different reasons, some have personal experience of dementia among family or friends and understand the importance of providing support and respite. Others may wish to become more involved in their communities and raise their profile.

“We are delighted to have their support and will support them in turn by providing a tailored package such as a personalised calendar of events, ideas on fundraising activities and bespoke publications.

“Corporate partnership is a two-way street and we can provide Dementia Friends sessions, talks on dementia and a representative at fundraising events.

“Through keeping in regular contact we ensure our partners can see the difference they can make in their business or organisation, as well as to people directly affected with dementia right here on our doorstep.”
