Our Westbury cafe has held its first meeting at its new venue at Grassacres Hall.

The cafe was the first memory cafe in Wiltshire when it opened in 2009 and meets on the second Thursday of each month for a buffet supper, a speaker and plenty of chat.

Head of Community Services Sarah Marriott said: "The cafes offer a chance for people to enjoy a social evening out in a supportive atmosphere. People really do value meeting others who may be facing similar circumstances and strong and supportive friendships have been forged.

"We normally have a speaker or short performance, and people also have a chance to gain information about dementia if they wish to and can chat informally to professionals who can give advice or just provide a supportive listening ear.

"Grassacres is very convenient for people because it is in the town and easily accessible. The feedback we had was that people wanted to be closer to Westbury especially in the winter months. Everyone had a good time here tonight and the volunteers and staff made the  hall feel very welcoming. We will still be using Fullingbridge Farm for our Music for the Mind group and for special events if we need a larger space."
