Alzheimer’s Support has thanked the people of Trowbridge who helped it raise a record-breaking £900 at its awareness and fundraising Memory Tree event on Saturday.

Hundreds of members of the public turned out for annual event to mark World Alzheimer’s Day at the town's Sensory Garden.

Accompanied by music from the Trowbridge Youth Band, people were invited to add a leaf to the tree in memory of a loved one or just to record a special memory. More than 40 new leaves were added to the tree. Attendees were also treated to a special performance by member of Alzheimer’s Support’s Music for the Mind groups in Bradford on Avon and Westbury, led by their singing teacher Caroline Radcliffe.

Trowbridge resident Nathan Foot said: “I had no idea that Alzheimer’s Support did so much for the community and the singing group was great.”

The money was raised by featured stalls and refreshments outside the charity’s office at Park Road, where staff were on hand to talk to people about living with dementia.
