Alzheimer's Support support worker Lily O'Brien has won the Dementia Carer category at the Swindon and Wiltshire Health and Social Care Awards.

Lily, who works in the Devizes and Melksham team, was nominated by her manager Monique Bentley for her work during the pandemic when she did so much to support and reassure clients and their families.

Monique said in her nomination: "Through her practice she promotes independence, dignity and choice, setting an example to others. Through her work she shows the local community that a person with dementia is a person who like everyone else, is to be valued."

Registered Services Manager Sally Haddrell-Jenks said: "Congratulations Lily, this is so well deserved.

"I am incredibly proud of the whole Home Support Team and how tirelessly they have worked throughout the pandemic.  They have shown bravery, commitment to our organisation and its clients, and also shown that, in the face of adversity, we can and did carry on. I wish there was an award for all of them."

The awards are run by the Swindon Advertiser and Wiltshire Times, and the Dementia Carer category was sponsored by Pebley Beach.
