Tina Flavell is so determined to fundraise for Alzheimer’s Support that even the Coronavirus crisis isn’t going to stop her.

Dog groomer Tina had originally planned to cut off her long flowing hair and then have her head completely shaved in front of friends at a pub on 18th April.  The virus lockdown means this is no longer possible, so her partner Blair will be wielding the clippers at home instead. “Blair’s really anxious about it and I’m feeling a bit insecure too. I could end up taking over and doing it myself!” she said.

Tina’s father lives with dementia and she has seen the physical and emotional strain it has placed on her mother who has become his carer. She’s grateful to our support worker who visits once a week to give her mother some much-needed down time, as well as providing advice on financial benefits.

Although full of dread at the thought of cutting off her long, flowing tresses which Tina feels define her, she’s determined not to cancel.

She said: “If we’re still in lockdown on April 18^th, we’re still going ahead."

Tina has already raised more than £1,000 and hopes to reach her £2,000 target. To raise as much money as possible, the couple plan to film the big event and post it on Facebook.

She said: “All of the charity’s work needs funding. And I’m hoping that the fact I’m willing to shave my head will convince everyone just how much Alzheimer’s Support needs your cash!”
