The club is an absolute lifeline. The atmosphere is amazing and the care and support you give to the members is inspirational. This is exactly what we need to see in Salisbury

Support our appeal

We are thrilled to be bringing our award-winning day care to Salisbury. With your help we will transform Scots House in the heart of the city to provide high quality care and support for people living with dementia and their families.

Salisbury's new dementia centre will include:

  • a purpose-designed day club where people living with dementia can find friendship and stimulation and have a great day out

  • a one-stop dementia hub where families can find advice, respite, practical support and understanding.

Why Salisbury needs a dementia centre

There are more than 1,600 people living with dementia in Salisbury but no specialist dementia day care. The city's only day club closed more than a year ago leaving this vulnerable group and their families without essential support and much-needed respite.

Alzheimer's Support has three well-established day clubs in Wiltshire which are a lifeline to club members and their families. Bringing our trademark and award-winning blend of care, compassion and 'seeing beyond the dementia' to Salisbury is something that we have wanted to do for a long time. The time, at last, is right.

What the dementia centre will offer

The centre will also host regular activity groups including a monthly memory cafe and weekly dementia discussion group. Two experienced Dementia Advisers will be on hand to offer advice and support. The teams that run Alzheimer's Support's acclaimed Home Support Service and our network of dementia activity groups will also be based there.

Scots House in Scots Lane is a perfect location, close to the town centre but tucked away with parking and plenty of dropping off space. So let's make this happen!

How you can help

  • Make a donation. We need to raise £140,000 to remodel and equip the building. We'll be leaving no stone unturned as we apply to grant-making trusts and foundation and local funders but we will need the support of the Salisbury community to make this a reality and to keep the new centre running.

  • Fundraise! From a skydive to a cake sale, we have lots of ideas and can help you every step of the way. Our community fundraisers Laura and Rachel will be delighted to hear from you so please get in touch if you'd like to help out and have fun at the same time.

  • Volunteer your time. If you'd like to volunteer at the new centre or help out during the build or decoration phases, please contact Annie Clayton, our dedicated volunteer manager.

  • Get in touch if you would like to help in any way or for more information about the new centre. We'd love to hear from you!
