A Walk to Remember is Alzheimer's Support's annual fundraiser for people living with dementia and their family carers.

This year we are holding a virtual event on the same day, Saturday 16th May, to help people stay connected, to help keep fit at home - and to raise vitals funds to keep our charity afloat.

There is no set format! People can walk laps around the garden or front room, set up a training circuit in the garden or go up and down the stairs. Stage a home-based danceathon! Do a cycling challenge, set yourself a target on the exercise bike or treadmill, or anything that is a keep-fit challenge to you - and a bit of fun.

Why we need your support now

There is so much we do not know about Coronavirus, but one thing we do know is that people living with dementia still need our support, now and in the future.

Our charity is being hard hit by the current crisis and we are losing £7,000 in income every week that services are closed. Even with Government help with some wages bills, we have to pay rent for day club premises and other fixed costs.

We are keeping in close touch with all the families we support with regular phone calls and advice, with essential shopping and collecting medication. We are also finding innovative ways to bring our singing, movement and art groups into people's homes remotely so that they can continue to connect and keep active.

You donations can help us do this every day that we cannot be together - and to ensure that our vital services can continue into the future.

  • Just £18 will pay for an hour-long phone call from a skilled dementia specialist who knows the family well - a call that can make all the difference to people coping alone at home at a frightening and difficult time.

  • £60 will page for a day's rent at one of our day clubs.

Please make a difference and support us today.
