ALZHEIMER'S SUPPORT AIMS & OBJECTIVES

Mission Statement

“Alzheimer’s Support is committed to the provision of a range of flexible, specialist services, which give people with Alzheimer’s or other dementia’s, and their Carers real choice, whilst maintaining as much independence and control over their lives as possible.”

Values and Beliefs

    The interests of individual users and Carers shall be safeguarded and promoted at all times.

    Entitlement to services shall exist regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, and cultural, religious or ethnic background.

    Social, cultural, ethnic and religious background of all users shall be respected.

    Effective dissemination of relevant information has the capacity to enhance the lives of users.

    A comprehensive service can be achieved through partnership with other agencies.

    Quality and improvement of the service will be achieved through regular monitoring, evaluation and appropriate action.

    The views of users and Carers are essential to the ongoing development and improvement of the service.                                                     

Key Aims and Objectives  

    To give emotional support to families and others concerned with dementia by linking them through membership and support groups.

    To provide practical help, guidance and information on Alzheimer’s and other related dementia.

    To assist people with dementia and their Carers to access service’s, benefits and other resources available from other providers.

    To provide training for those working with people with dementia and their Carers.

To actively lobby for:

   people with dementia and their Carers, including support at home, day care, residential care, nursing home and hospital care

   which will enable the early detection / diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and other dementia

   support needs are provided for, i.e. changes in Building Standards covering access requirements

    To promote and disseminate relevant research findings, raise general awareness and help advance the frontiers of knowledge about dementia.

    To give funding agencies “value for money” in the provision of specialist dementia care services.

Quality Assurance

Alzheimer’s Support will provide the best possible service to people with dementia, their Carers and others who use the services.

We evaluate the quality of service provided, and encourage and welcome comments and suggestions that will help to ensure high standards.

The Organisation will be reviewed regularly by the Executive Committee. Suggestions, comments of appreciation and ideas from those who use the services will, whenever possible, be incorporated into future developments.
