POLEBARN HOUSE CLUB Polebarn House Club was set up in March 1999 to provide a day care service for people with memory loss and dementia. The Club is run by specially trained staff who understand the problems of both the people with dementia and the difficulties of the people who care for them. Our aim is to provide a place where people have time to do things they enjoy and to give the person who normally cares for them at home a day for themselves. In a warm and homely setting we help people with memory problems to enjoy social contact, to take up hobbies and skills that they enjoy and to have some fun and enjoyment in a safe place. Activities are varied to suit individuals' preferences and abilities. Lunchtime is a focal point in our day. We cook a light lunch on the premises and often our members like to help with table setting and clearing although we have a dishwasher so there isn't too much work involved. We have regular meetings with carers to review and update our service. We also give information and support to carers and offer talking time if there is a need. The Polebarn Club is open from Monday to Friday. People arrive at 9.45am and go home at 3.30pm. If you have a problem with transport we will do our best to arrange some way for you to get here. |
