New head office for charity
press release - June 6 2011
PEOPLE with dementia and their family carers will be able to get more help after Wiltshire charity Alzheimer’s Support moved to larger offices in Trowbridge.
Park House, just off Park Road, will be the new ‘dementia hub’ for the area, with more space for people affected by dementia to drop in for advice and support.
The charity started in a single room in Bridge House, Trowbridge, in 1990, and now employs more than 60 people across East and West Wiltshire.
It runs day clubs and arranges trained staff to spend time with people with dementia in their own homes, as well as offering a wealth of other services. Park House, just off the main shopping area, was until recently the offices of estate agent Carter Jonas.
Principal manager Anna Littlechild said: “We have grown rapidly in the last few years and have known for some time that we will need to move into larger premises. Park House is a lovely building and offers us twice the space for the same rent.
“We will be able to hold training events, workshops and carers’ meetings under our own roof and we can use the outside space for events in the summer.”
The move from the charity’s old office at Station Approach, was partly funded by a grant from the Trowbridge Area Board of Wiltshire Council.
Park House will be officially opened at an open day with events and activities on July 5, but anyone seeking information or advice on dementia, or just to see the new offices, is welcome to drop in before then. The telephone number 01225 776481, remains the same.
