Charity seeks runners
press release - January 23 2012
A Wiltshire charity is looking for runners to take part in the 2012 British 10k in London this summer.
Alzheimer’s Support has a few places left for people who want to take part in the prestigious fundraising run on Sunday July 8.
Fundraising manager Lesley Crawford said: “We are not looking for professional athletes but for anyone who is reasonably fit who wants to set themselves a challenge for 2012.
“It’s a great event to be part of. The run starts at Hyde Park and takes in Trafalgar Square, the Embankment and Westminster before finishing at Horseguards Parade. There are about 15,000 people taking part, so it’s like a mini London marathon with loads of supporters and a great atmosphere. And this year is more special than ever in the run up to the Olympics.
“We ask that everyone who runs for us pledges to raise £200 in sponsorship. We will take care of the administration and entrance fees and give all our runners a T-shirt and sponsorship pack to get them started on their fundraising.”
