An understanding doctor's surgery is crucial to support people to live well with dementia in their community.

There are so many small things surgeries can do, such as offer double appointments, arrange afternoon appointments and phone people to remind them.

Families tell us that when their GP is able to communicate the diagnosis clearly and in full, and to refer the newly diagnosed to the dementia adviser for their practice, it can make all the difference.

Many GP surgeries in Wiltshire have held Dementia Friends or Understanding Dementia information sessions for everyone who works in the surgery, and some have offered these to patient groups too. Get in touch to arrange a free session for your surgery
