About Us

Alzheimer's Support is a registered charity founded in 1990 in response to a locally identified need for support for people with dementia and their family carers.

Our range of flexible services support people living at home with mild to moderate dementia, helping them to maintain as much independence and control over their lives as possible.

We provide services to around 150 people at any one time, with most clients using more than one of our services.
We work alongside family carers, providing information and emotional support throughout the course of the illness.

Governance

Alzheimer’s Support is a public limited company governed by a Board of Trustees, the vast majority with personal or professional experience of caring for someone with dementia. The Board meets every eight weeks to review and guide the work of the organisation. The day-to-day running of the organisation is led by a team of experienced operational managers under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Anna Littlechild. We employ more than 60 staff, and enjoy high levels of staff retention. Click here for a list of key staff.

We work closely with the Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Care NHS Trust (AWP), Wiltshire Council’s Department of Community Services, NHS Wiltshire and The Alzheimer’s Society.

We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and inspected as a Domiciliary Care Service Provider. To see our latest inspection report please click on this link: www.cqc.org.uk.

Alzheimer’s Support has achieved all levels of PQASSO (Practical Quality Assurance System for Small Organisations).

We have two patrons - Lady Sidmouth and John Bush, Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire.
